Meet Lonely Lion
Q: So LL, how did you become interested in art?
A great question. It started when I realised how bleak and bland my cave was looking. It just didn’t represent me, you know? Other lions might like the generic, straight from the high street stuff but to me it felt inauthentic.
That’s when I started experimenting with art. I knew what I liked and no one could express it better than me, so that’s what I did!
Q: Where did the name 'Lonely Lion' come from?
Well, I hope the lion part is obvious! Haha, no I won’t eat you, promise – I already had lunch.
As for the lonely part, well, aren’t all artists lonely creatures? There are plenty of animals in the savannah but not many I like. Maybe they don’t like me either. I don’t know. Sometimes it’s nice to be alone and enjoy the peace. My last neighbours were humming birds and you can imagine how noisy they were! This area is quieter, which I love, but it can be lonely at times.
Q: Aww, LL, I'm sorry to hear that! Do you think it influences your artistic style?
Don’t be sorry, I do love the peace and quiet.
As for artistic influence, I think it pushes me to make art fun. The kind of art that puts a smile on someone’s face – whether it’s a great pun or a relatable introvert quote. Art is a great way of connecting with people without having to actually connect with them.
Q: So what can people expect to see from Lonely Lion Art?
Expect nothing and you’ll never be disappointed.
I’m joking! You can expect art with character. A lot of artists stick to one style, but where is their sense of adventure? There will be plenty of experiments on Lonely Lion Art. To start with, we’re going digital. Everything will be available as digital, printable products – making great art super accessible to everyone. The great thing is customers can use the art how they want it. With the digital files they can get the art printed and framed, printed on a t-shirt, use on greeting cards etc.
It’s a win-win for independent artists and customers!
